Can I use Laxatives to Lose Weight
68Although there are many lose weight laxatives available, their use is definitely not advisable and these are some of the reasons why.
A laxative is primarily meant to induce the normal passage of stool,it is definitely not meant to precipitate diarrhea. The use of laxatives is very dangerous as you can pass out or slip into metabolic imbalance.
Moreover with laxatives, you do not lose weight exactly, all you lose is water. Continued use of laxatives is like giving yourself an episode of Cholera. No cholera victim is fat, but then no cholera victim is healthy, fit or looks good.
Another dangerous effect of laxatives weight loss is electrolyte imbalance. You lose a lot of minerals and ions like potassium and sodium. These help in the normal functioning of the heart, nerves and virtually every muscle in the body.
If you damage your heart by using laxatives for weight loss, long after you have regained the weight you pseudo lost, the heart problem remains.
So, Never use Laxatives for Weight Loss
Laxatives are meant as short term solutions for acute constipation. Cases of long term constipation are treated with fibers and other bulk forming foods.
How Do You Identify the Weight Loss Laxatives
Be very wary of herbal weight loss supplements.
The fact that something is labelled 'all-natural, active ingredient has been used for millenia in Mexico' may simply mean that it is a blend of potent plant based laxatives.
For example, Senna, a leaf and a component of many herbal blends is a potent laxative.
Be especially wary of herbal teas.
All tea is herbal, but any special weight loss blend that increases the number of times you stool, is a weight loss laxative in disguise.
Most are labeled in this fashion - Chinese Natural Slim Herbal Diet Tea.
The idea being that the Chinese are slimmer not due to genetics and/or chronic malnutrition but because of the herbal teas.
There are an increasing number of wealthy overweight Chinese. I wonder why! Shortage of herbal tea in the homeland perhaps?
In addition, read the label - Any product claiming to dissolve fat and help you expel it, probably contains a laxative and should be avoided.
Weight Loss Laxatives
Another common presentation of laxatives for weight loss is the quick weight loss regimen containing pills.
Most products promising weight loss in as little as 3days may contain laxatives.
All you lose is water, once you stop the pills and rehydrate, the weight comes back on. Our bodies are made up of about 70% water, showing how important this cheap fluid is to our survival.
The alternative is to dry out and die like a beached whale all in the effort to lose weight.
Avoid laxatives for weight loss. Try to load up on all manner of fruits and vegetables. They add bulk, are safe and help you lose weight.

I would not do that for health reasons, besides that its not comfortable at all.
The best way to lose weigh is to be more careful with what you eat, no junk food, and make some daily exercises.
Invading your body with drugs is never a good idea.

Musclequest, I agree.
Losing weight by taking laxatives is uncomfortable and unhealthy. More over what can replace the healthy glow and feeling of well being you get after a good workout.
Thanks
