What causes clogged pores?

These old cells combine with the sebum, dirt, dust, sweat and applied cosmetics to form a layer on the skin. This could get into a pore and if not cleaned out, it could harden and clog the pore. To make matters worse, infected clogged pores are one of the causes of acne flare up.

It is easier for pores to become clogged when the skin is dehydrated, is not properly cleansed, too many cosmetics or too heavy cosmetics are applied or there is excessive build up of dead skin cells.

Once the pores are clogged, the skin can not breathe properly, it cannot discharge waste products or absorb moisture.

Clogged pores lead to bacteria infections which in turn lead to infection, inflammation and acne.

How to Treat Clogged Pores

There four most important steps in treatng clogged pores are

Step 1: Cleansing: You should deep cleanse the pores after normal face washing. Use a facial cleanser if your skin is sensitive. If not, the most important thing to remember is to rinse with plenty of water after washing. Also scrub at least once a week. Use a product that contains salicylic acid.

Step 2: Hydration: Your skin must be kept moist all day long. Use a moisturizer. During winter or harmattan, use a fine mist.
